This video pieces together various bits of work I have done on money flows in U.S. politics, the conclusions will be applicable more or less everywhere and tie in exactly with the work I did on U.K. political party funding. Here I add together Presidential campaign funding (USD 2.6 billion), corporate lobbying (USD 4.2 billion p.a.) and influence via think tanks (estimated at USD 2.0 billion p.a.). The amounts mentioned are provided largely by a group of around 30 uber-wealthy individuals and large listed corporates. Once you draw up those links you quickly get to understand how the interests of the People get demoted. Politicians will deal on a day-to-day basis with lobbyists and think tanks, whilst the poor voter only matters once every four years.
